Today's highlight was announcing Aniboom's Marvel Motion Comic Initiative to a packed panel at Con. Nearly 1,000 fans showed up to get the get the details! The project launch was made by Joe Quesada, Marvel’s Editor In Chief – who as you probably guessed is a HUGE animation fan. He can't wait to see what YOU GUYS do with Marvel's comic art and scripts. The world is watching! On the panel with Joe were two of the world's great comic book artists -- Neal Adams (whose work on Batman and Green Lantern were my all time faves as a kid) and John Cassaday (his X-Men with Joss Wedon really were Astonishing). Other Marvel men on the panel included Publisher Dan Buckley and VP Interactive Ira Rubenstein.

Everyone of these professional fanboys said they are relying on the community of animators working on Aniboom’s Virtual Studio to step up and show the world what a Motion Comic can mean, and that the true meaning of a Motion Comic is up to an endless amount of interpretation. And for the first time anywhere, Marvel showed portions of their upcoming Spider-Woman Motion Comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev -– an original story being released FIRST as a Motion Comic and then as a print book. You can view the trailer here!

Straight from the floor of San Diego Comic Con, our main man Larry is having the time of his life. The biggest pop culture convention in the world, Comic Con is the place to learn about comics, animation, movies, TV, sci-fi, and every other reason we wake up in the morning.
Sending us pictures and updates from the floor, Larry gives us an inside look at the fun and craziness of Day 1 at con!

(The crush of fans at Comic Con)
Aniboom's first day at Comic-Con 2009 was amazing! It's simply the best weekend of the year for a fan boy like me. Some folks say it's grown too large (somehow it gets bigger every year) and there is no way any one person can experience half of whats going on here in San Diego. I was running around all day and somehow I didn't even make it to the show floor. How is that possible? Just busy with meetings, conference calls and reconnecting with old friends. My day began with an early breakfast with programming development folks, some calls, half a dozen meetings with other TV networks, Hollywood agents and comic book publishers. Hollywood is definitely buzzing about Aniboom's new programming initiatives and today was a great opportunity to spread the word about Aniboom's Virtual Animation Studio.

Santa Monica-based production company Logan teamed with the Date Farmers to create the stunning new video “a Volta”. The video features a post-apocalyptic environment where out of control, Mickey-mouse like robots run the show. These robots badmouth and shout swearwords in German while electrifying whoever pisses them off. The chaos goes perfectly with the music The chaotic video yield spectacular aesthetics and a great integration of music and motion. This is how Logan’s Alexei Tylevich describes the music-plot dynamics: “It’s a music track with a “plot” thinly stretched over it. I thought it might be clever to turn this video into a mini-film with a semblance of a plot…” (read the full interview here)
