Comic Con Day 2
Another amazing day at Con.

Today's highlight was announcing Aniboom's Marvel Motion Comic Initiative to a packed panel at Con. Nearly 1,000 fans showed up to get the get the details! The project launch was made by Joe Quesada, Marvel’s Editor In Chief – who as you probably guessed is a HUGE animation fan. He can't wait to see what YOU GUYS do with Marvel's comic art and scripts. The world is watching! On the panel with Joe were two of the world's great comic book artists -- Neal Adams (whose work on Batman and Green Lantern were my all time faves as a kid) and John Cassaday (his X-Men with Joss Wedon really were Astonishing). Other Marvel men on the panel included Publisher Dan Buckley and VP Interactive Ira Rubenstein.

Everyone of these professional fanboys said they are relying on the community of animators working on Aniboom’s Virtual Studio to step up and show the world what a Motion Comic can mean, and that the true meaning of a Motion Comic is up to an endless amount of interpretation. And for the first time anywhere, Marvel showed portions of their upcoming Spider-Woman Motion Comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev -– an original story being released FIRST as a Motion Comic and then as a print book. You can view the trailer here!

Today was also the very first time I was able to meet the amazing folks from G4. Attack of the Show! is my #1 guilty pleasure –- I love Kevin and Olivia (OK, so maybe I just love Olivia). After my G4 meeting I was able to catch their completely sold-out and impossible-to-get-into panel and NERD RAVE (thank you G4!).

AOTS is just as finny in person as it is live on TV. Somehow, their completely harmless poster giveaway to a member of the audience turned into a series of cancer jokes with a winner who hobbled up to the stage and with a piece of his brain tumor in a jar. Insanity. Blair Butler and Olivia are two of the world’s most talented women writing fart jokes for boys. It may not sound like much of a compliment, but trust me, it is. Right now, they're watching Aniboom waiting for you guys to blow them away with animations that they can use on their “Around the Net” segment.

Finally, I had some gaming highlights today. Marvel’s Iron Man 2 is pays awesome. I checked out the blood-and-guts offerings from CAPCOM -- always a highlight for me. But clearly I’m getting soft in my old age because my favorite game BY FAR was LEGO ROCK BAND. Amazing! I am a complete LEGO dork, and rocking out as a Foo Fighter-playing Lego Rock Star.

Thank you to STARGATE buddy, forever fan boy and STAR Collaborative executive Dan Olson for taking me over to the Lego booth.

Don’t you wish you had enough free time to build a life size LEGO Cartman?

(Larry and Cartman)
Well that’s it for me at Con!
If I ever do anything as fun as Con again, I’ll check in and let you know!
